Welcome to the debut of an OkieCreative.com interview series highlighting Oklahoma photographers and photographers with Oklahoma roots. From seasoned veterans to professionals young in their career, each Tuesday you will get a chance to hear from many talented photographers from the heart of the Midwest.
In our first installment, we spotlight standout photographer Kelly Kerr, a man with a storied and evolving career. After some two decades as a photojournalist spent shooting stars of sports and stage, Kerr now shares his experience with photography students at OSU Institute of Technology in Okmulgee. But he’s hardly kicking back. In fact, a newly found passion for video has turbo-charged his creativity. Kerr talks about his career, memorable experiences, offers advice, and tells us how Oklahoma inspires his work in this audio slideshow.

Love the article! Looking forward to the rest of the photographer interviews!
Fantastic work… fantastic interview.
Enjoyed this a lot. Now I will be coming back looking for more in the future. When I started at OSU I had 2 choices engineering or journalism. I chose engineering, while I don’t regret it, sometimes I wonder. Can’t agree more with what Kelly says about getting hands on if you want to learn.
Thanks for stopping in everyone. I’d like to hear your suggestions for Oklahoman photographers you’d like to see featured.
Amazing photos Kelly! Loved the interview. Im very excited to see more in the future! Thanks for doing this Jeremy.
