bringing design home: meet meg and cale
Hi, my name is Cale Lopp and I’m thrilled to be able to share with you a little about who I am, where I’ve been and what I do. When Kyle asked me to write a post, I thought, “Me…you want me?” Well, here I am, so either Kyle was actually serious, or just so nice he couldn’t say no. That aside, I’m guessing you would like to know who this crazy guy from Jones, Oklahoma is; I personally don’t believe that much in credentials but here are mine. I have a degree in Architectural Design from Oklahoma State University (sorry to all those OU fans). It was there on September 15, 2006 at a birthday party that I found the love of my life (a graphic designer) and we’ve dreamed of design together ever since. In the second week of the Okie Photographer interview series, we feature Seattle-based lifestyle photographers Sarah and Chris Rhoads. They both attended Oklahoma State University, and Chris is originally from Tulsa. Sarah Rhoads Photography has become well-known for their distinct visual style and their knack for charming and disarming their subjects.
Sarah is particularly good at harnessing the power of the internet in building her brand and her business. In her blog, she imparts entrepreneurial wisdom to a growing group of followers. Her contagious optimism and willingness to share her passion with others is undoubtedly a driving force behind their success.

Here is my two cents on why you should attend an Ignite event in your town, but first a little history lesson. Ignite began in Seattle in 2006 by Brady Forrest and Bre Pettis. Since then, hundreds of five minute talks have been given across the world. There are thriving Ignite communities in Seattle, Portland, Paris and NYC, to name a few. This world-wide movement has ended up in our backyard and here are a few reasons why you should go: Continue Reading
Welcome to the debut of an OkieCreative.com interview series highlighting Oklahoma photographers and photographers with Oklahoma roots. From seasoned veterans to professionals young in their career, each Tuesday you will get a chance to hear from many talented photographers from the heart of the Midwest.
In our first installment, we spotlight standout photographer Kelly Kerr, a man with a storied and evolving career. After some two decades as a photojournalist spent shooting stars of sports and stage, Kerr now shares his experience with photography students at OSU Institute of Technology in Okmulgee. But he’s hardly kicking back. In fact, a newly found passion for video has turbo-charged his creativity. Kerr talks about his career, memorable experiences, offers advice, and tells us how Oklahoma inspires his work in this audio slideshow.
Here is my list of events for January. Check them out, pick a few to attend. I think you will be happy you did. If you would like me to include your event, shoot me an email and I will post it as soon as I can. Continue Reading
